In Flanders Fields

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae
In Flanders
Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the
Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our
quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

LEST WE FORGET
Hi EllenaElizabeth, thank you for coming to my blog as now I have come to yours I am able to say the pride that I feel for your Anzacs. Although I am English I had family that fought with them at Gallipoli. One sadly died but the other one followed his Australian friends home and settle in Queensland. This started a trend where 3 of my uncles & my mother emigrated to your beautiful country. My mother came back when I was little but I still cherish the memories. So half my family have a wonderful life because of the Anzacs.xxx
ReplyDeleteWe definitely should never forget. I remember when we read that poem in school...I wonder if they share it with the students today.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Kathy
