Some wedding photos and other nostalgia

My paternal grandmother, aged 18 weeks.
She was born in Rossland, Canada 1919

Here she is aged 4
Bit of snow here...
This is an un-known event to me as I live in Australia.
My grandmother came to Australia on the ship Aorangi with her parents and 3 siblings in 1934.
They thought the depression would not be so hard in Australia.
My great grandfather had been born in Australia and left at about age 18 to see the world, ended up in Canada. Joined the Canadian army during WW1, met his future wife in England, married as soon as the war was over and they went to Canada to live.

Wonder what happened to the lovely doll and pram?

Just a little bit of snow!

A lovely family portrait of my grandmother (the eldest) and her siblings.
Taken in Mt Isa, Queensland, Australia.
I was talking to my great aunty (youngest one in this photo) and she said my grandmother's dress was full length. Port wine colour over a satin lining. Sounds so pretty, wish it was in colour.

Here I am with hubby and both sets of grandparents on our wedding day
1983

This is a comparison photo of my parent's wedding and mine.
I wore my mother's wedding dress.
I am quite a bit taller than my Mum so my hoop was not as big as hers.
I think hers looked much lovlier.
I used her veil as well but not the garland as it was too little for my head
so I had a sort of pill box hat with veil made
and Mum's veil attached at the back.
1960 and 1983

Cards for baby boys.

Today I made two baby cards for little boys
who will be born soon.
I'm glad I know ahead of time that the babies are boys
and
I'm just waiting on hearing what their names are
so I can add the first initial to the cards.
I'm having back surgery in the next couple of weeks and will be un-able to create for who knows how long?
Anyhow it was fun to make these today.
I hope you like them and will leave me a comment or become my follower.

Winter garden on The Darling Downs.

A beautiful winter sky last week
Some rusted garden ornaments that I've collected over the years.
I leave the cobwebs as I like the look of them
An old horse shoe
Love my rusty chains
Seems I've 'run' out of space for anymore photos on my blog.
I've been through this before and
the next time I post it's ok.

Five new cards

I've had such fun the last few days making some new cards
Usually it takes me days or weeks to make one card
Making cards quickly may be a new habit...
I hope so!

For this card I pieced scraps and then cut out with a heart diecut.
Forever Friends The Good Life Universal Embossing Folder
for the cream vertical strip.
I made this card for my niece her new fiance.
Spellbinder's filigree square
and
the Cuttlebug, Disney embossed Heart Frame.
Double Do alphabet letters
This new Flouishes mannequin and sentiment stamp is so cute.
The background pattern pieces is a Stampin 'Up stamp
I love the subtle softness of this butterfly card.
The Marianne diecut butterfly is a favourite of mine
This little basket diecut is new to me. I love it.
Added a Marianne bird diecut and some purchased flowers.
Cuttlebug embossing folder used for the purple background.

Thankyou for visiting my blog.
Please leave a comment about my 5 latest cards, I'd love to hear from you.
If you become my follower I'll follow you back.
Blessings!

Welcome
to
2012
I recently made this altered canvas for my sewing/craft room.
I entered it in the local country show and it won first place.
A cut glass compote full of gold shank buttons
Pearl buttons in old avon jars sitting on a silver tray

My best friend brought me this beautiful Killarney Lace from Ireland.
I thought it too pretty to hide away so I framed it up & it's always on show.
A beautiful shelf trim crocheted by my mother

My friend gave me this doll head, it's too cute to throw out right?
Wrought iron string holder & scissors
it's so heavy could be a paperweight as well as just looking so gorgeous.
A scattered selection of buttons, a vintage buckle, and a fabric panel.
Trying out colours and embellishments for a new bag.
I love to have The Waltons playing in the background as I sew or create
Some very old buttons, some from as far back as the 1800's.
My most recent creation.
Vintage and antique glass buttons
A beautiful box with a pretty tin
and
a favourite icon of mine, The Eiffel Tower.
A friend brought me this back from Paris last year.
Wrought iron cloche type bird cage vignette
A silky oak day bed for relaxing or even having a quick afternoon kip
Appliqued cushions made by me and the front one by my best friend.
A marvellous way to store fabric collections.
The piano had to stay but that's ok I stacked some interesting things on top.
I store trims in the blue chest of drawers, scrapbooking supplies in the coloured plastic storage drawers and fabric in the white chest of drawers (only some I might add), there are many other plastic tubs on wheels with fabric collections.
Two large work tables
This is a little painted child's play hutch
(that once belonged to my daughter)
close up with old clocks, dice and tins etc
Some of my buttons and books
I store some of my Spellbinder dies in this old CD holder.
I love the way the individual spines flip forward and back,
it makes them very easy to locate.

A large pincushion made by my best friend
A beautiful new crystal button I bought recently
 and
a crocheted pink heart by my mother
Spool holder painted and decorated by me
Debbie Mumm pin cushion
Thanks so much for visiting.
I'd love you to leave a comment or become my follower.
If you do I'll follow you back.
I look forward to visiting your creative space too.
I'd like to thank Karen Valentine for once again hosting the party
as well as recently re-designing my blog.
I love my new look, thankyou Karen.
I can't wait to visit each blog again this year.
I met so many wonderful like minded bloggers
and hope to do so again this time.
